On March 20, the International Veterinary Forum “Dairy Farm” was held in Lviv. The organizer of the event is The Ukrainian Farmer magazine. Among the speakers are leading industry experts, including Denys Tymchenko, consultant of the AVM/GAF Center for Dairy Farm Management. The event was moderated by Valery Lototskyi, director of the Center of the AVM and the Center for Central and Eastern Europe.
The goal of the Dairy Farm International Veterinary Forum is to help veterinarians gain valuable professional information that will help improve herd health status, animal husbandry efficiency, and farm profitability.
About 300 people attended the large-scale event on March 20.
Foreign veterinary specialists, leading experts in the field, and experienced practitioners shared their experience. A number of important topics were revealed:
Changes in legislation on veterinary medicine.
Experience of successful prevention of postpartum complications in cows (Progress Milk LLP).
Mastitis control program (AF “Rozvologzhya”).
Timely detection and control of liver diseases in dairy cows.
Changes in hematological parameters with various deficiencies in cows.
There were also many other topical reports, during which the participants actively asked questions.
Denys Timchenko, consultant-technologist for the management and organization of dairy farms of the AVM Center and Global Agro Finance, revealed the topic “How to prevent postpartum complications in cows.”
“In the previous report, I was struck by the data on the elimination of cows, in the first 30 days – 50%,” he began the report. — If we compare it with the American studies of 2022, the figure there is about 10%. But the problem exists and it is common to all dairy farms around the world. Affects all breeds of cows. During the transit period, all the problems arise, which we then heroically try to solve.”
Next, he revealed in detail the features of comfortable keeping of cows during periods of drought and calving, emphasizing the diet (vitamin and mineral content) and the negative impact of heat stress. I talked about Trumal (trumal) – an approach that should be used by veterinarians during the control of the postpartum period and the diagnosis of diseases. He concluded the speech with recommendations for treatment.
“Such gatherings are extremely useful and interesting, because they are a platform for exchanging opinions, discussing problems that concern farm doctors. The organizers successfully selected relevant topics and speakers. I hope that all those interested will find something relevant for themselves and put it into practice to achieve even better results in our dairy industry,” Valery Lototskyi, director of the Center for AVM and CVO, shares his impressions and results of the event.
